Version 1.1 updated on 18th April (including the PHI-BUF trade for Jason Peters)

1. Detroit Lions – QB Matthew Stafford

The obvious pick if his agents says "Yes" to realistic account numbers. Why? Name a good one up in Detroit since Scott Mitchell aired it out to Hermann Moore and Brett Perriman. f

2. Denver Broncos – QB Mark Sanchez (Trade)

Update: We took some heat from Ickey (see below) for this pick but the Redskins are also in play and the Jets are also rumored to have interest in the surfer boy from Cal. So who gambles and moves as far up to secure his services for sure!!! Denver will…

This pick belonges to my beloved RAMS so what can I hope for: Trade out of this position! Fearless prediction has Denver trading its two number 1 picks for the 2nd overall pick in the 2009 draft. Denver fills the hole left due to the Jay Cutler trade and selects the next QB of its future. The Rams are able to add quality depth with the 12th and 18th overall picks and the deal will come through because the Rams will bite without an additional 3rd round pick from Denver.

Comment by Ickey:

Dear Moose, I like your mock draft, BUT: The Broncos trading up to the number 2 spot is pure wishful thinking! If they want Sanchez, they’ll find plenty of teams drafting between, say, 5 and 8 and more than willing to trade down. Sanchez should still be available there, and they won’t have to pay him crazy money if they draft him there. What say you?

3. Kansas City Chiefs – LB Aaron Curry

In my opinion that’s simply the best player in the draft and the Chiefs will take him. LT is not a possibility with Brandon Albert in place so go for D and a rare athlete and good character guy.

  • Lions assistant checks out Matt Armstrong of Grand Valley State
Representatives from 12 NFL teams — including an offensive line coach from the Detroit Lions — were present at Grand Valley State’s pro day on April 11, when seven Lakers players worked out indoors on FieldTurf. Matt Armstrong, C (6-foot-1 5/8, 298 pounds) — Armstrong — who was at the NFL Scouting Combine — ran the 40-yard dash in 5.18 seconds. He had a 32-inch vertical jump and 8-foot-10 broad jump. He did 24 lifts of 225 pounds on the bench press. Armstrong did not do the shuttle runs or three-cone drill. Armstrong — who was a three-time first-team All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference selection (2010, 2012-13) — has 32 7/8-inch arms.Filed under: Pro Days Tagged: Detroit Lions, Grand Valley […]
  • Howard Jones of Shepherd visits with Dallas Cowboys
Shepherd hasn’t had a player selected in the NFL draft since 1979 (running back Wayne Wilson), but defensive end Howard Jones could change that. Jones (6-foot-2 3/8, 234 pounds) was at the NFL Scouting Combine and stood on his numbers from the event (he was a top performer in his position group in the vertical jump and among the top performers at his position in the 40-yard dash, broad jump and three-cone drill). Jones worked out at linebacker during the pro day on April 9, which was held on a sunny, 55-degree day and held outdoors and run on FieldTurf. Jones is among the prospects who visited with the Dallas Cowboys. Tracking teams’ interest in top 2014 NFL Draft prospects […]
